MISSIONARY SUPPORT
The church supports foreign and local
missionaries through prayer and financial contributions. Our
missionaries currently serve in Senegal and the Philippines (previously
Egypt and Mexico), as well as locally. We also
encourage and train our own members to proclaim the good news locally and
throughout the world. Many of our teens have been on short term missions
trips, and went to Mexico, Haiti and separate locations in Africa and South America
within the last few years. For the past six years, 17-24
member-teams have taken part in a short-term missions trip to Juarez, Mexico
to build a home for needy, church-sponsored families through Casas
por Cristo, (latest February 2010).
We recently met with new missionary candidates Matt and Leanne
Wilkinson and their four children who are preparing to go to Papua New
Guinea with To Every Tribe missions. They are completing training down
in Texas. You can read
about each of our missionaries and their prayer needs at our Prayer
Concerns Page (and by entering the protected password).
LOCAL OUTREACH
The church strives to show the love
of Christ to the surrounding community through evangelism, neighborly
compassion, and charity. We have participated in open air outreach events to
reach the city of Lynn, provide ESL (English language) training, and Vacation Bible School is held each summer as
way to reach new children and their families. We also seek to reach
certain refugee communities within our city, particularly among West
Africans, and as partners
with the Austin Square Cambodian Fellowship and the new Spanish-speaking
Mies Ministries church plant that meets in
our church building for worship. North Shore Christian School has also planted a
Pre-K program that makes use of our building during the week, and
Pastor Steve leads a Chapel program with the little ones.
