MEMBERSHIP IN ARBCA
Austin Square is now a member church with the Association of
Reformed Baptist Churches in America (ARBCA). Five other
congregations also joined, bringing their total to 76 churches
nationwide. Join us on Wed. night to hear about the presentations
and learn more about the opportunities for our church. 4/20/13
GUATEMALA SHORT-TERM MISSION TRIP
The Team is back, having put together another home for a needy,
church-sponsored family with Casas por Christo April 14 to
20, and sharing the Gospel as well. They plan to give a presentation
of their travels next month. 3/31/13
EASTER BAPTISMS
We were privileged to witness the baptisms of two young ladies at
our Easter morning worship service. 3/21/13
HOMEGOING
Our dear sister and member, Diane Leppek, 63, went home to be with
the Lord on early Thursday morning, March 21. Please continue to
pray for Dale, Brad and the family. Viewing is at the Bisbee-
Porcella Funeral Home (549 Lincoln Ave.) in Saugus on Saturday from
3-7 pm.; the
funeral and celebration of the life of Diane Leppek is at the church on Sun., March 24, at 3 pm. in the main
sanctuary, with a

BLIZZARD CONDITIONS
Due to travel concerns relating to the blizzard that weekend, Sunday
School was canceled for Sun., Feb. 10; but the morning worship
service was still held regular time of 10:20 am. (Evening Study
also.) 1/30/13
BUSINESS MEETINGS
Two new members were inducted into the assembly at our Jan. 27
meeting; additional matters relating to discipline and committee
work were presented at the Jan. 30 business meeting, including
Pastor Steve sharing on the progress of the ministry. 1/1/13
NEW YEAR'S EVE WATCH NIGHT SERVICE
We opened our doors to allow members to come and hear God's Word,
testify of His goodness, and pray for His grace in the coming year. 12/18/12
CHRISTMAS PROGRAMS
Our Kids Club wrapped up their season with a Christmas party and the
presentation of gift Baskets that they put together for the widows of our
church. Our seniors were treated to a Christmas party on Dec. 9, and
the Young Adults had another lunch reception on Dec.

THANKSGIVING EVE SERVICE
We were glad to share in this yearly gathering with our own Austin
Square Cambodian Baptist Church, the Haitian Baptist Church of Lynn
and Maplewood Baptist Church of Malden. Our church also participated
in a Thanksgiving Family Dinner a week and a half earlier, to
fellowship together before the holiday. 9/16/12
FALL SEASON BEGINS
We "Welcomed Back" all of our people as well as
guests on Sun., Sept. 9, with a Coffee Hour fellowship downstairs
after morning worship. Then, our Christian Education programs
resumed the following Sun., Sept. 16, beginning with a breakfast
downstairs for Sunday School participants, including a preview of
what will be taught this year. In the evening, the
Kids (Pioneer) Club kicked back into gear with an Iced Cream Sundae
Social to register all children in Grades K-8, for the new season. 9/12/12
2012 ANNUAL MEETING
The assembly accepted the 2011-12
Annual Report and confirm officers to serve for the year.
Additionally, a new "liaison" committee was formed through
the next fiscal year to improve communication with leadership and
help facilitate the vision of the pastors. 9/5/12
SENIOR PASTOR VACATION
Pastor Steve has returned from his three week off the end of the
summer. 8/12/12
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL COMPLETED
Just under an average of 50 kids came out morning to take part in
VBS at the church with a space theme this year. The children
demonstrated what they learned at a Closing Program on Sunday
afternoon, with snacks and refreshments served downstairs afterward. 6/17/12
YOUTH LEADER DEPARTURE
Our Youth Director, Nick Lutzo, and his wife and co-leader, Andrea
(the Wilfert's daughter), are moving up to Maine this summer where
Nick will take a full-time youth position at a church at Bethel. Nick
preached the Father's Day morning and the church gave them a farewell. 6/16/12
CHURCH WORK DAY
Our members cleaned up the facility -- under the direction of the
Deacons -- and installed some new features, as well as sealed the
parking lot. 5/6/12
GUATEMALA SHORT-TERM MISSION TRIP
This year's Team flew down on April 15,
returning safely the following
Sat. night. Thank you for praying for them and their success in building a
home for a needy family with Casas por Christo, sharing the
Gospel as they went. Pastor Steve presented a report with media on
Sun. evening, May 6, followed by refreshments for the Team and all

FELLOWSHIP LUNCHEON
Our Cambodian sister church hosted us for a delightful lunch
following morning worship and the celebration of the Lord's Supper,
where we could all share fellowship and encourage each other as
brothers and sisters in Christ. 4/15/12
SPRING PREACHING SERIES'
During Sun. morning worship, Pastor Steve is taking us
expositionally through the Sermon on the
Mount, in order to better understand life in the Kingdom.
For our weekly Sun. Evening Studies, Pastor Gary conducts a Know
Your Bible Series, with walkthrough's in each book of the
Bible to help us better identify themes and recognize content during
our own Scripture reading. 4/10/12
HOMEGOING
Our dear sister and member Louise Gibson was taken home to be with
the Lord on Tue. afternoon, April 10. Viewing is at the Parker
Funeral Home (35 Franklin St.) in Lynn on Friday from 4-8 pm.; the
funeral is at the church on Sat., April 14 at 11 am., with a
collation following. 3/28/12
SPECIAL BUSINESS MEETING
The assembly welcomed two new members and among other issues agreed
to move ahead with seeking inclusion with ARBCA in the coming year. 3/27/12

WEDNESDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY IN THE LIBRARY
Pastor Steve and others have been remodeling the library (in the
education wing on the old side of the building), and we are now meeting
in there for our Prayer Meeting and Bible Study times. The seating is more natural and comfortable, allowing for
larger groups to meet in there. 1/17/12
DENOMINATIONAL CONSIDERATION
The church is looking into joining the Association for Reformed
Baptist Churches in America (ARBCA), and heard from their
coordinator, Rev. Gordon Taylor on Jan. 15. Associating with this
national group would involve little change in our existing approach.
The next step is to present a motion to the assembly at a Special
Business Meeting. You can look up further information on ARBCA

CHRISTMAS WEEKEND
This year, we asked the congregation to undertake a fast on
Fri., Dec. 23, going into a Sat. morning gathering for
prayer and repentance, particularly on behalf of our unsaved family
and neighbors. Then, everyone was invited to come out and hear the
Gospel at the Christmas Eve Service, and also our regular
morning worship time on Christmas day. 11/25/11
THANKSGIVING CELEBRATION
Our church gathered for a 4th annual Thanksgiving Dinner on Sun.
afternoon, Nov. 13. On Thanksgiving Eve, we once again thanked the
Lord for His faithfulness with a service
involving our local, international congregations. 9/15/10
ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING
Members approved the 2010-11
Annual Report
and confirmed elected corporation officers and counters; Pastor
Steve also shared that we are investigating joining an Association (ARBCA);
Elder Michael DeAngelis was granted a sabbatical through the end of

We kicked off the new season with Sunday School (9 am.), on Sept. 11,

SENIOR PASTOR VACATION

VBS 2011 COMPLETED
Around 40 kids came out in the morning for a Beach
theme at this year's Vacation Bible School, July 25 to 29, 9 am. to noon each day. The
closing program was Sun. afternoon, with food

SUNDAY EVENING STUDY MOVE

EASTER SCHEDULE
We marked our appreciation for all that Christ did for us on the
cross by observing a time of fasting on Good Friday (see Fasting
Guide), followed by celebration of the Lord's Supper at a
service that evening. Then the Elders guided congregation
members through a time of prayer and confession on Sat. morning, humbly seeking to repent and recover our first love. Then,
Resurrection Sunday itself was a time of unrestrained
celebration, beginning with a "Sunrise" service,
followed by Easter breakfast downstairs and morning worship is
at its regular time, with three baptisms. Thank the Lord for meeting
powerfully with His people. 3/31/11
MID-WEEK PRAYER MEETING CHANGE
As announced at our last Business Meeting, the Elders have changed
the date and time of our Prayer Meeting and Study from Wed. to Thu.,
now beginning at 6:30. This is to set one night when our members can
come out to study, pray, and practice music for Sun. worship. 3/7/11

MISSION AND VISION STATEMENTS
Pastor Steve presented the leadership's new Mission Statement during
his morning sermon (Nov. 14), which was then adopted by the assembly at a
Special Business Meeting on Wed., Nov. 17: “We
are gathered to glorify our Sovereign God by exalting Him in worship,
through making and maturing disciples for Christ, and faithfully
serving our community in the power of the Spirit – all according
to His Word.” The Elders also
explained the Vision statement to help the church move forward with

THANKSGIVING CELEBRATIONS
Our church gathered for a 3rd annual Thanksgiving Dinner on Sun.
afternoon, Nov. 14, followed by a program to recognize God's
faithfulness in preserving Austin Square throughout its history. On
Wed. night, Nov. 24, we celebrated Thanksgiving Eve with a service
involving our local international congregations. 11/1/10
YOUTH GROUP HALLOWEEN OUTREACH
Our youth group and leaders participated in a "Trunk or
Treat" giveaway to our neighbors in our parking lot on

WOMEN'S WELCOME BACK BREAKFAST
Our ladies shared fellowship, heard testimonies and were introduced
to all the ministry opportunities open to them this year, including
the Women's Bible Study starting up again on Tue. mornings (10 am.)
with Carolyn Hanley. 9/16/10

We enjoyed another evening of presentations by our own members,

Study time (6 pm.) on May 2 -- including a potluck-style meal down in

We were privileged to witness two more baptisms of those who have
declared their new life in Christ at the April 25 morning worship

The assembly received two new members, but also sadly authorized the
removal of 5 past members. Pastor Steve also outlined opportunities

2010 MEXICO MISSION TRIP
Pastor Steve and the Team from our church returned safely from Juarez, Mexico
after another week of building a home for a needy, church-sponsored
family with Casas por Christo. The Team reported and showed pictures
during our
Evening Study time on March 7. 2/3/10
HAITI RELIEF
Pastor Joel Demosthene of the Haitian Baptist Church of Lynn plans to put
together a mission trip to provide relief in his home country, as
well as begin partnering with long-term agencies and churches
already there. 1/30/10
HAITIAN MEMORIAL SERVICE
Our congregation was invited to take part and show support at a
Memorial Service for Pastor Joel Demosthene's mother -- along with
other relatives of members lost in the quake -- held at the
Washington Street Baptist Church in Lynn on Sat. morning, Jan. 30.

YOUTH GROUP RETREAT
Our new youth leaders took the teens up to Shiloh in Jefferson,
NH, for a fun weekend of activities and study together. 11/15/09
THANKSGIVING CELEBRATION
Our church family enjoyed a wonderful time of fellowship at the 2nd
Annual Thanksgiving Dinner on Sun. afternoon, Nov. 15. This was
followed by a very special 10th Anniversary program for Pastor Steve
upstairs afterwards, at which we heard many testimonials and
witnessed media and award presentations.

YOUTH GROUP RESUMES
Teens were invited to come back out in Sun. evening to meet the new youth
leaders in the Cambodian Sanctuary. The program will continue to run
throughout the year.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL COMPLETED
Children Pre-K through Grade 6 enjoyed a morning (8:30 to 11:30
am.) program at the church the week of Aug. 10
to 14. We kicked things off the previous Sat. with a cookout and block
party in our parking lot, and closed off VBS with a closing
program the following Sunday afternoon, with 100 folks out to see the
kids and enjoy a pizza party afterwards.

Pastor Steve took our teens up to their camp experience for the
week at Shiloh in Jefferson, NH.

WEDDING
Pastor Steve celebrated the marriage of his daughter, Andrea, to
Nicholas Lutzo, in a ceremony up at their old home church in
Merrimack, NH.

MINI-MISSIONS CONFERENCE
On Sunday afternoon, June 21, we welcomed back the Caldwell family,
Kimballs, Lawrence Tucker and his two children, and the Bisbee clan to share reports of their recent missionary work, as well as
to fellowship with us and get reacquainted. We enjoyed food prepared
by our Cambodian congregation and an Ice
Cream Social, before taking part in their presentations during our Evening Study time.

ANNUAL BUDGET APPROVED AT SPECIAL BUSINESS MEETING
The proposed 2009-10 budget was approved at our last business
meeting, as well as money transferred into our Capital Improvement
Fund to provide a buffer for any emergency projects. 4/29/09
3 NEW MEMBERS WELCOMED AT SPECIAL BUSINESS MEETING
The Assembly voted to accept three new members at our recent
Business Meeting on April 29, as well as to transfer funds into the
maintenance line item on our Annual Budget. 4/12/09
EASTER SERVICES
Our congregation thoroughly enjoyed the extra opportunities we had
to worship with our Austin Square Cambodian Church and the Haitian
Baptist Church of Lynn at our Good Friday and Easter Sunrise
services. We also added a breakfast between morning services on
Easter, and closed off by showing the 2nd part of the movie, The
Gospel of John, in the evening. 2/20/09
MEXICO MISSION TRIP
Pastor Steve the Team from our church returned safely from their
latest trip down to Juarez,
Mexico, where they built another home for a needy, church-sponsored family.
They showed a presentation of their experiences at the Evening

SPECIAL BUSINESS MEETING
The assembly voted unanimously to confirm Michael
DeAngelis as a new Elder (pastor) of Austin Square Baptist Church. 11/16/08
THANKSGIVING DINNER AND 20TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
Our Kitchen Team provided a full holiday dinner for our families on
Sunday afternoon. This was followed by a celebration service in the
sanctuary where David Carpenter showed his DVD video presentation of
the history of our church and the new building addition 20 years
ago. He then distributed Commemorative
Booklets with photos and more history to our members. 10/22/08
SPECIAL BUSINESS MEETING
We welcomed five new members to the assembly, voted in our
corporation officers and tellers, and selected a new nominating
committee for the coming year. The Elders also nominated Michael
DeAngelis for the position of Elder. Members were encouraged to read
through his Doctrinal
Statement and come prepared to vote at the next Business
Meeting (see above). 10/4/08
CHURCH WEDDING
Brian Edwards and Mary Coleman married in a ceremony at the church
on Oct. 4. 9/17/08
NEW DEACON
Nick Lozzi was voted in as a new Deacon of Austin Square Baptist
Church at the Annual Meeting on Sept. 17. The members also approved
other reports and hear updates on recent facility projects. 9/3/08
NORTH SHORE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL PRE-K PROGRAM INSTALLED
NSCS has begun holding classes in our education wing, hosting 20
young children. The pastors will provide a chapel experience for
them mid-week.
